YFU INTERNS IN PORT ELIZABETH
KAREN JENSEN
(2005)
REMCO VROLIJK
(Jan - May 2006)
IN 2005, YFU SPREAD ITS WINGS TO PORT ELIZABETH (PE)... With the help of our intern, Karen Jensen from Denmark, we quickly developed an infrastructure in PE. This enabled YFU to recruit hostfamilies for 5 international exchange students who arrived in July 2005 and will be staying in PE until the end of their exchange years in July 2006. Since Karen's departure, YFU has placed Remco Vrolijk, a YFU Netherlands volunteer and former exchange student. Remco has continued building up a network for YFU in PE, and it is hoped that we will be able to place more students there in future, as well as recruit South African pupils to go overseas on exchange! In less than a year, YFU has established contact with 22 schools in PE, of which 20 had indicated a willingness to become YFU partner schools!
