During
the week of 18-24 September 2005, YFU South Africa organized
a series of workshops for staff members and volunteers from
various international YFU organizations. The aim of the workshops
was to create a better understanding of South Africa, and
the culture and environment in which inbound exchange students
from overseas are hosted. The workshops were attended by 12
representatives from Germany, Holland, Norway, Chile, the
USA, Denmark and Estonia. Participants visited three SA regions
during their workshops: Gauteng, Bloemfontein and Cape Town,
during which time they lived with host families and visited
various schools in an attempt to give them a first-hand experience
of how their students spend their exchange years. |
