MEET
AMANDA AND FINN... INTERNS IN THE NATIONAL OFFICE, CAPE
TOWN |
Amanda
and Finn - our current National Office Interns. |
Every
year, YFU SA can count on the support and assistance of
interns from all over the world who work for YFU in the
different regions for 3 – 12 months. Many of them
have been former exchange students with YFU, and use their
internship for an interesting second cultural exchange.
However, over the years we have also had several interns
working for YFU SA which for them had been their first experience
to live overseas. So being a YFU volunteer certainly is
not a requirement to join our internship program! Currently
we have two interns working for us in our Head Office in
Cape Town. |
Amanda
Waldenstrom (Sweden)
Hi! My name is Amanda and I was an exchange student when
I was 16 years old, in 2002/2003. I went to France for a
year, living with a lovely family, going to school and not
only learning French but Norwegian as well! Back home in
Sweden I have volunteered some for YFU and when I got the
opportunity to come to Cape Town to work for the organization
I didn’t hesitate! My job at the national office is
to organize a tour for our students as well as get-togethers.
I also do school presentations and of course stay in contact
with our students and their host families. It is great fun
and interesting to work here, and in many ways this experience
feels like a second exchange year! My internship lasts from
September to December 2007.

Finn
Ehlert (Germany)
Hi, my name is Finn. I am 23 years old and have been a German
YFU exchange student in beautiful Illinois, USA back in 2000/2001.
I have been a volunteer for YFU Germany for many years and
have been privileged to be able to meet many amazing young
people from all over the world while volunteering for YFU.
As intern at the YFU National Office in South Africa, I am
mainly responsible for the marketing process of YFU SA and
act as contact person for our many volunteers, students and
families. I stay with a host family and struggle with the
Afrikaans language just like our students. My internship lasts
from September till December 2007. |
